You know that when you complain or give feedback as a customer it’s hugely frustrating when you never hear back from a company. Or just as bad, you feel fobbed off with a meaningless message that just says “Yes, we hear you but tough!”
Guess what?
If you are getting feedback from staff and doing nothing – that’s just as bad.
At worst it leaves them feeling devalued and demotivated. You are saying you don’t care about their opinion – they are left wondering what was the point in speaking up.
So, make sure you have a process in place for responding to all staff feedback.
Your team are grown ups – they understand that not every idea is a good idea. But take the time to thank them, and explain why it isn’t possible to implement. Encourage them to keep the ideas coming – after all, the next one might be a real gem.
