It should be exciting when your company grows, and you need to recruit more people to meet the demands of your business. However, many business owners see this as a double edged sword – because they are afraid of getting recruitment wrong.
So, what can you do to avoid some of the pitfalls?
We recommend a process to our clients to keep them on track:
S = Structure the recruitment. Be clear about the skills you need for the role.
I = Imagine yourself in the candidate’s shoes.
M = Map out what you want to achieve
P = Prepare in advance. Book time in your diary for interviews before you advertise.
L = Learn about legal implications. Don’t get yourself in hot water by doing it wrong.
E = Enable your candidates. You need to reassure yourself they are the right person for you. Do this by giving them the opportunity to speak and demonstrate their abilities.
We will look at some of these elements in more detail in future posts.
But above all ask yourself:
Can they do the job?
Will they do the job?
If you can’t be sure the answer is yes to all three questions, then don’t recruit.
