Often, when we are called in to handle a team problem with a new client, it boils down to communication – or lack of.
If you want to get your people on board, and all rowing in the same direction, you need to talk to them.
- Share your ideas and vision for the business
- Welcome their ideas and suggestions
- Don’t bottle up bad news – the grapevine can be a terrible thing
- Make their goals an intrinsic part of the business direction
- Reward what’s worked, thanks to your team
You can communicate in a number of ways, but here are a few ideas for you:
- Set up an intranet site – a sort of internal website for staff. This works particularly well for businesses over 100 staff, but can be effective in smaller businesses too.
- Newsletter – regular updates either by email or in print. Keep them up – you can always find something to say. And if not, then ask for their ideas!
- Briefing sessions – if you have a specific topic then call people together to talk about it. If your company is small enough you can talk to everyone at the same time, but if not split into departments.
- Performance management and one to one sessions – this is the time to share how you want an employee to play a part in your plans, with targets and objectives that add up to the end game
If you would like help with your internal communication, we would love to chat. Give us a call on 01256 328 428.
